Validation Studies
The Research Department of PI Worldwide conducts validity studies to serve our clients. Our goal is to help clients, in collaboration with their PI Consultant, to make the best use of the Predictive Index.
What is a Validity Study?
A validity study is an objective and quantitative examination of the relationships between PI patterns and job performance for a given job in a given company. Validity studies are conducted on behalf of PI clients at no charge. PI Worldwide has a thirty year tradition of conducting validity studies across a wide range of jobs and industries.
There are two main purposes of every validity study:
- To provide your company with a data-driven recommended PI pattern for a particular job
- To assess the job-relatedness (as defined by EEOC guidelines) of the use of the PI for a particular job in your particular company.
PI validity studies have also been used to:
- Develop a “template for success” for a given job
- Increase employee retention rates, and reduce turnover
- Determine the relationship between employee experience and job performance
- Determine the relationship between employee experience and safety performance
- Improve coaching, training and performance by distinguishing between the PI profiles of those who excel on some performance indicators but not others. For example, salespeople who close many deals may have trouble maintaining contracts or maximising subsequent profits, and vice versa
- Improve the fits between PI profiles, job requirements, management approaches and your organisational culture.
